Janee Hawkins is an Attorney for the Criminal Defense Division at the Foster Law Firm. Attorney Hawkins specializes in criminal offenses ranging from DUI to Murder. Attorney Janee Hawkins is a native of Arlington, Virginia and relocated to Atlanta in 2015. Attorney Hawkins graduated from Georgia Mason University in 2011, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commination. She completed her Master of Science degree at the University of Phoenix in 2013, with a concentration in the Administration of Justice. Attorney Hawkins earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2017, as a member of the institution’s Criminal Justice Honors Program. She was admitted into the Georgia State Bar in November 2017 and is licensed to practice in Georgia’s lower courts, as well as, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Northern District Court of Georgia, and the Middle District Court of Georgia. Additionally, Attorney Hawkins is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia, as of October 2018. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Attorney Hawkins began her legal career in private practice representing clients charged with crimes in various counties throughout Georgia. Attorney Hawkins left private practice to fulfill her childhood professional dream of becoming a Public Defender. She began working for the Georgia Public Defender’s Council (GPDC) in 2019. As an employee of GPDC, Attorney Hawkins worked in the Metro Conflict Defender’s Office in Atlanta, the Clayton County Public Defender’s Office, and the Atlanta/Stone Mountain Alternative Public Defender’s Office in DeKalb. While working in those offices, Janee Hawkins received ample training, obtained trial experience, and built rapport with prosecutors and other court officials across the Metro Atlanta area.
Attorney Hawkins approached her work in indigent criminal defense following the famous quote by Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change to you wish to see in the world” and she brings that same mentality to the Foster Law Firm.
