Alexis S. Coleman-Watkins is an Attorney for the Family Law Division at Foster Law Firm. Alexis is highly skilled in litigating complex domestic relations legal matters including but not limited to: Divorce, Legitimation, Paternity, Child Custody, Modification, Child Support, Contempt, Prenuptial Agreements, Temporary Protective Orders and Adoption cases.
Alexis is from North Augusta, South Carolina and attended undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Go Gamecocks! Alexis was a natural scholar and was often recognized on the President’s List and Dean’s List. Alexis obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology and graduated with Leadership Distinction in Professional and Civic Engagement in May of 2015. Alexis has had a heart for serving others since she was a young child. Alexis was a regular volunteer for an at-risk children’s after school center in Columbia. Through mentoring and volunteering with children coming from divorced parents, going through contentious custody battles and dealing with domestic violence in the home, those experiences ignited a fire in Alexis to study domestic relations law.
After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina, Alexis began her legal studies at Charleston School of Law, in Charleston, South Carolina, in the Fall of 2016. Alexis chose to attend Charleston School of Law in part, due the school’s mission statement, “Pro Bono Populi” which means “For the Good of the People”. The school’s mission was right in line with Alexis’ core values as a person and what she endeavored to carry into the legal profession. As a part of the school’s requirement to graduate, each student was required to complete 50 hours of community service. Alexis completed well over 50 hours and was highly involved with the school’s National Black Law Students Association serving as the Southern Regional Director of Community Service for the 2018-2019 term, was an Ackerman Fellow for Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services and served as a LexisNexis Ambassador in her second and third year of law school.
Alexis obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from Charleston School of Law in May of 2019. Alexis’ dream was always to live in Atlanta, Georgia and she knew right away the first step would be to sit for the Georgia Bar exam. After completing the exam, Alexis officially moved to Georgia and was hired as a junior associate attorney for a small boutique law firm practicing family law in Atlanta. Alexis was admitted to the Georgia Bar in November of 2019 and has been practicing family law exclusively since. In her spare time, Alexis enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband Kenneth and dog Rocky, gathering with friends and family and going on an occasional shopping spree.
Alexis joined the Foster Law Firm in 2021 and has since successfully advocated and resolved many domestic relations cases.
